THE BEST LENSES FOR YOU
We always love to advise our customers on the best lenses and introduce the latest technologies based on their lifestyle and requirements. But “the best” doesn’t necessarily mean the most expensive. For us, what’s best is the option that suits you best based on your needs and fits your budget.
Our lifestyles have changed totally, and our eyes have become the most vulnerable organ because of those drastic changes. But there are new technologies and advancements to provide the best for your eyes, and we believe it’s our duty to keep you posted about it. Here are some of the prescription lens options that might help you in this changing world.
Varilux® Progressive Lenses
Varilux is one of the flagship lenses of Essilor. The world’s first progressive lenses were invented in 1959, and that was a Varilux lens. Now half of all progressive lenses throughout the world are Varilux – that’s over 400 million comfortable wearers. We at Optic One, are specialists for Varilux progressive lenses.
Free Upgrade to a Better Progressive Lens | Limited Time In-Store Offer
At Optic One, when you are ordering a pair of Varilux lenses, you are not getting a regular Varilux, but we will provide a free upgrade to Varilux Fit lenses- which is a tailor-made version with increased comfortability and ease of use. Lear more about Fit Technology & why it is good for you, here
Office Progressive Lenses
Progressive lenses are great everyday lenses, but may not work 100% well when your work involves the constant use of a computer. Office progressive lenses, also known as “computer progressive lenses” are a relatively new concept designed for use in the office and are intended to provide clear vision at around 16 inches to 6 feet. In other words, it is kind of a progressive lenses without the far-vision, but has intermediate (for computer distance) and reading vision. If you use a computer for more than 5 hours daily, it’s a good investment to have Office Progressive glasses as these glasses keep the field directly in front of you firmly in focus, so you aren’t having to constantly tilt your head (or your glasses) up and down.
We dispense Office Progressive lenses from both Essilor & Rodenstock and a huge number of our customers are happily using them.

“These days 99% of prescription lenses are made with plastic, and plastic is unbreakable, right?”
Well, all that glitters is not gold; all that plastic is not unbreakable!
For kids’ glasses, rimless glasses, safety glasses, and sports prescription glasses, our choice of lenses are Trivex, MR8, or Polycarbonate. If you are hearing these terms for the first time, continue reading.
Polycarbonate : Thinner and lighter than plastic, Polycarbonate has been the choice for a long for those who need a pair of shatter-proof lenses. These lenses are lighter and thinner than regular plastic, provide 100% UV protection, and are relatively inexpensive.
But there are cons as well with Poly. The abbe value of Polycarbonate is the lowest among the lens materials, and it’s more prone to scratches as it’s a softer material.
Trivex : Trivex lens material was originally developed for use by the military in helicopter windshields and fighter jet canopies in the U.S.
Trivex lenses have high impact resistance and are lightweight. They also have a higher tensile strength than polycarbonate lenses and are less likely to crack at the connecting points of rimless glasses. The abbe value of Trivex is about 45, which makes it superior in terms of optical quality.
The refractive index of Trivex is 1.53, lower than the Polycarbonate. It may not be ideal for stronger prescriptions as the lens can be thicker.
MR8 : MR8 is a relatively new material and is invented in Japan. The refractive index of MR8 is 1.60, at par with Polycarbonate, and is as highly impact-resistant as Trivex and has optical quality as plastic- making it an ideal choice for higher prescriptions that needs a high-impact resistant lens.
