Get the Second Pair Free.
On Japanese-made Tokai lenses — Neuro Select progressives and Tokai single vision. One pair for you, one for someone at home.
- Two prescriptions, not one. The free pair is made to its own prescription. So it can be for your wife, your husband, your mother or your child — not just a spare of yours.
- Made in Japan. Tokai is a high-end Japanese lens maker. Their 1.76 is the thinnest plastic lens material in the world — up to 49% thinner than a standard lens. That matters if the prescription is strong and you’re tired of thick edges.
- Progressives that don’t fight you. Tokai’s Neuro Select designs come from their own research into how the brain puts together what each eye sees. Every lens is built around your frame and your measurements.
- Fitted by an optometrist. We measure, choose the right grade for the prescription, and adjust the finished pair on the face. In store, in Abu Dhabi.
- Your frame or ours. Bring one you already like, or pick a new one. Frames are priced separately, so you decide what the pair costs.

Not sure if your child needs glasses? Screen them first.
Children rarely say anything. Most assume everyone sees the way they do. These are the things parents usually notice first:
- Sitting very close to the TV or holding a tablet close to the face
- Saying they can’t read the board at school
- Squinting or tilting the head to look at something
- Rubbing the eyes a lot, especially after reading
- Headaches in the evening after homework
- Losing their place when reading, or avoiding reading
If any of these sound familiar, bring them in for a vision screening. It’s completely free and takes no more than 10 minutes. If we think your child may need glasses, we’ll refer you to an ophthalmologist for a full consultation and cycloplegic refraction — that’s the proper way to get a child’s prescription right, and we’d rather send you than guess.
We do not prescribe glasses for children ourselves, because a correct children’s prescription needs cycloplegic refraction, which is done by an ophthalmologist. Our screening tells you whether there’s something worth looking into. Once you have the ophthalmologist’s prescription, bring it to us and we’ll make the glasses. The AED 599 package has its own price and terms and cannot be combined with the 50% off sale, the Friends & Family lens offer, other discounts, or insurance benefits. The signs listed above are general guidance, not a diagnosis. Conditions apply.
Your Questions, Answered
Children, school & vision screening
How do I know if my child needs glasses?
The usual signs are sitting very close to a screen, holding books close, saying they can’t see the board at school, squinting, rubbing their eyes, or headaches after homework. Children often don’t mention it, because they assume everyone sees what they see. Bring them in for a free vision screening — it takes about 10 minutes and tells us whether there’s something worth investigating.
What is a vision screening, and how is it different from an eye test?
A screening is a quick check of how well your child is seeing. It’s not a prescription. A full children’s eye test needs cycloplegic refraction — eye drops that relax the focusing muscles — and that’s done by an ophthalmologist. Screening first means you only go for the full appointment if there’s a reason to.
Do you prescribe glasses for children at Optic One?
No, and that’s deliberate. Children’s eyes focus so strongly that they can hide the real prescription during a normal eye test, which is why a proper children’s prescription needs cycloplegic refraction from an ophthalmologist. We screen your child free of charge, and if we think glasses may be needed, we refer you. Bring the ophthalmologist’s prescription back to us and we’ll make the glasses.
Do you have glasses for school children?
Yes — we keep a full kids’ range, and kids’ frames are included in the 50% off. Bring your child in with their prescription so we can check the fit. A frame that slides down the nose or sits too wide won’t work properly, however good the lenses are.
My child already wears glasses. Should I bring them in before school starts?
Yes, it’s worth a screening. Children’s eyes change as they grow, and a prescription that was right last year may not be right now. Bring their current pair — we’ll screen them, check the fit, and tell you if we think it’s time to see the ophthalmologist again.
Back to school — 50% off
What are the back to school offers at Optic One Abu Dhabi?
A flat 50% off frames and sunglasses from most major brands — adults and kids — until August 30, 2026, in store and on opticone.ae. There’s also a free vision screening for children, a free eye test for adults, and a buy one get one free offer on Tokai lenses. Not sure about a brand? Call 02 446 6885 or WhatsApp 058 663 6885.
Which brands are excluded from the 50% off?
Most of our brands are in the sale. A few are excluded, including Porsche Design, Humphrey’s, TITANflex and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. If you have a brand in mind, message us on WhatsApp and we’ll confirm.
Does the 50% off include prescription lenses?
The discount is on the frame or sunglasses. Prescription lenses are priced separately — we’ll go through the lens options and give you the full price before you decide anything.
Is the sale online or only in store?
Both. You can shop on opticone.ae or visit us on Hamdan Bin Mohammed Street in Al Markaziyah, Abu Dhabi. For children we’d suggest coming in, so we can check the fit properly.
Friends & Family — buy 1 get 1 lenses
What is the Friends & Family buy one get one free lens offer?
Buy one pair of Tokai prescription lenses at Optic One and get a second pair of Tokai lenses free. It applies to Tokai Neuro Select progressive lenses and Tokai single-vision lenses. Frames are priced separately. Available in store on Hamdan Bin Mohammed Street, Al Markaziyah, Abu Dhabi.
Can the free pair be for my child or someone else at home?
Yes — that’s the point of the offer. The second pair is made to its own prescription, so it can be for your husband, wife, parent or child. For adults we can do the eye test here, free. For children we’ll need a current prescription from an ophthalmologist — we’re happy to screen your child first and refer you if needed.
Does the free pair include a frame?
No — the offer is on the lenses. You can bring a frame you already own, or pick a new one from the store, priced separately. We’ll check that an existing frame is in good enough condition to take new lenses before we fit them.
Why Tokai lenses?
Tokai make their lenses in Japan. Their 1.76 material is the thinnest plastic lens material in the world — up to 49% thinner than a standard lens — which matters if the prescription is strong and you don’t want thick edges. Their Neuro Select progressive designs come from Tokai’s own research into how the brain handles the images from both eyes. Our optometrist will tell you which grade suits the prescription.
Can I use this with the 50% off sale?
No. The Friends & Family lens offer and the 50% off frames sale can’t be combined, and neither can be used with insurance benefits. Tell us what you need and we’ll work out which one gives you the better price — that’s a two-minute conversation in store or on WhatsApp.
Adults — eye test & AED 599 package
Is the eye test for adults really free?
Yes. Our optometrist does a full eye test at the store, free, with no purchase needed. Book a time online, message us on WhatsApp, or just walk in.
What is the AED 599 progressive eyeglasses package?
A complete pair — frame plus progressive lenses made to your prescription — for AED 599, with fitting included. The frame and lens choices come from a selected range, and it has its own price, so it can’t be combined with the other offers.
